Ok, I had drained the coolant from the bottom of the radiator, but had not thought about the coolant still in the heads.
I pulled the driver side head last night, and when I loosened the front bolts (the one inside the head and the one outside the head by the spark plug), coolant started coming out. Not sure if it went down the #1 cylinder into the oil. I will be changing my oil just in case.
But was I suppose to remove the coolant drain plugs to get the coolant out of the block before removing the heads?
I know there is one plug on the driver side, and one on the passenger side. Did I need to undo both?
Don't know about your 94, but on my 91 I pull the knock sensor (low on the PS block) to drain all the coolant from the block. I think you have one one each side.
On my 91, I have done it by removing the KS and the pipe fitting on the other side, flushed it with water because I was a little **** about the process but in the past, I have just taken off the heads and blown the cylinders out with compressed air.

On your '94 (which I found out from your profile, you didn't state), remove the knock sensors anytime you need to completely drain the system. These are located precisely where the block drain plugs would be on an older engine.
