Default Help w/ HP estimate

Wondered if some of you with more experience on the gen II small block than I have can give me the benefit of your knowledge....

I have an LT4 with a TPIS ZZ9 cam. I also have the hypertech reprogrammer for the cam and a Borla 3" exhaust. Does anyone have an estimate of how much power I'm making with this combo? Also, I have 4.10s installed. Any guesses on 1/4 times? I'm thinking low 13's by seat of the pants, but I might be way optimistic.

Thanks.

mid to low 12's!

gears dont help with power! just with accelaration
lt4 is stock 330 at the wheels it is faster than the ls1!

Thanks for the input. I understand the gears versus HP issue, and maybe I should explain I'm not totally without mechanical knowledge. It is just all of my experience has been with the original LT-1 and late 60's big blocks. I'm just not sure how much, if any, extra power my car is making with the mods (bought the car this way, so I don't have a comparison to the original configuration). I'd have a good guess with my Z28, but with aluminum heads and different valve train, the variables are way out of my knowledge base to make a good guess.

I was at an all Corvette day at our local strip a little while ago and there was an LT1 CE running low to mid 14s. Granted it was a hot day, but the track was in good shape and I thought it would run a bit quicker. Since I wasn't able to get me car on the track, I just wondered how I would stack up.

I've not yet heard of an LT4 that put down 330RWHP *bone stock,* let alone a series of cars that have consistently made those numbers! Where do you get this stuff? Yesterday, you told somebody that the LSx motors don't respond well to mods! Gimme a break.

CrvtBB - as for your numbers... I'm not very familiar with that cam, but I would be willing to guess that you're between 330 and 350 at the wheels, depending on where the LT4 was when stock and how aggressive that cam really is. Was there any head work done? At any rate, I don't think 12s are out of the question...just might take the right track, tires, temps, etc. Why not throw it on a dyno and find out exactly?!

I would imagine that the car's potential would be somwhere in the 12s range at the right elevation and temps.

If you can drive, a stock LT4 should be very close to 12s bone stock. They will also dyno around 300rwhp. I have never seen a ZZ9 cam in an LT4 so I don't know what kind of power they will make. I am guessing at least 320rwhp and low 12s with good tires and on a cool day.

Because while I'm curious, I'm not curious enough to spend the money some of these guys are asking for dyno time. Plus, since I'm not looking to do anymore mods, I don't see the point in wasting money on a dyno just for "bragging rights." I was just looking for an educated guess based on other people's experience. Of course, if there is anyone in the Washington DC area that wants to donate dyno time, I'm game for that!

I had my LT4 baselined at 295rwhp. I just did a cam swap, and put a custom cam in, and got a custom tune. It is mildly aggressive. I also put on 3" B&B cat back.

I gained 60 rwhp and threw down 354 rwhp.

So I would guess somewhere in the 330-350 range as well.

Thanks a lot boulderlt4,
I was guessing by seat of the pants between 340 and 350 at the wheels and sounds like your setup is similar enough to draw a reasonable comparison.
