I think that they use a 4.00 stroke crankshaft with 4.030 bore.
Maybe I am not shure ...
Because a 401ci is made from a 3.875 stroke crankshaft with 4.060 bore

You might try asking the guys at racenet. Then, when you find out, let us know, too!

4.030 bore (0.030 over) and 4.00 stroke make 409. That's a lot of stroke, and most won't recommend boring more than 30 over on the LT1 block. I know there are people here that have 409 LT motors. I'm guessing it will take a lot of clearancing.

I agree thats alot of stroke! I am curious as to just how much clearancing is involved. And if it would be worth it over a 396 or 383?

I seem to have this wild hair up my azz about rebuilding my short bolck this winter. Just tossing around a few options!

That Thing is a Beast! Plus his car is way setup!!!
However I don't think there is that much advantage over a 396 except 409 sounds bigger?!?! I feel like you could get the same HP with either. Maybe a little more torque with the extra CI.
