95 LT1 - MAF problem?

95 LT1 - MAF problem?
My 95 has been running rough when first started until it gets to operating temp of around 180. Then smooths out. Now its getting worse and running rough even when warmed up.
I pulled the idle air solinoid(?) and cleaned it out as well as the throttle body. Funny thing is this. When I have everything ahead of the throttle body removed and disconnected, it runs great. As soon as I re-install the air cleaner assembly (with new paper filter) and plug everything in, it starts running like crap.
I cleaned the MAF sensor when I had it out (it was filthy) and made sure the rubber air duct was not collapsed anywhere.
Seems like the MAF might be the culprit?????
Any thoughts?

put everything back together....
disconnect the MAF connector.... start the engine see if it runs smooth.
It will set a code which will clear after 3 starts...
I'd venture to say it is your maf sensor, they rarely set a code unless you unplug them...
