Default removing rack and pinion?

In the process of replacing my rack and pinion. So far I have the three mounting bolts off and I have the rack disconnected from the steering column. Now, how the hell do you get this thing out of the car?!?! Before I start tearing things out left and right to make clearance I would like to know exactly what needs to be removed to make way. Also, will it slide out from the right or left side or from the top or bottom or what? Please help! Thanks

I've yet to do that. My Vette has got morning sickness. The summers are fine but when it gets colder I have to let her warm up a little bit before I can even turn my steering wheel left or right. It's a pain but I can do without. Good luck on it.

yes tie rods are disconnected. Did you have to remove the sway bar?

MY Helms said to remove the sway bar and the fan. I said phooey to the fan. Guess what? It wouldn't come out until I removed the fan. I slide mine out the left side.

RACE ON!!!
