Is this the relay on the side of the fan housing?..passenger front wheel.Large Black box bolted to a bracket on the fan housing.Maybe 2"x2".Simply unplug and that's it?
92 M6.
If you're trying to defeat the CAGS system, just pull the wire off of the CAGS solenoid on the driver's side of the tranny. The various accesory catalogs have a CAGS defeat device that plugs into the end of the harness at the tranny. It basically fools the ECM and keeps the 1-4 light from coming on.
The relay itself is located on the left (driver's side) rear portion of the lower fenderwell. Should be right in front of the battery. If you have manual A/C it will be the one toward the outside of the car.
Not sure what other box you are talking about on the fan shroud.

The relay I described is what the 92 GM Service Manual discusses and there is a deawing of the relay location as it sits on the rear fender well. The relay could have been moved around in different years, but my manual seemed to be pretty specific.
In any event, the so-called "CAGS Eliminator" does the trick and just takes seconds to install once the car is off the ground.
I've never HAD to go to 4th....but the problem is when I leave form a dead stop in 1st and barely wanna move the 1-4 light comes on and it is impossible to take outta 1st.If it comes out a bit it will grind goin back in slightly. You then have to give it a bit more gas and it releases. This is very random.I did a search on this and more than few people experience this stuck in 1st thing. It's anooying as hell!!
And usually when you wanna creap away from a light or in a parking lot but don't wanna run the rpm's up.
