car shaking problem?

my car vibrates really bad around 80 and above it shakes the whole car any ideas on what it might be?

its not in the stering wheel its in the car it self i think it might be in the drive shaft there is play in the front driveshft about a quater of an inch or less but the back one has no play

Find a local shop and have you drive shaft checked for balance. If the weights were removed/fell off you could be getting vibrations that way.

is it front wheel vibrate?
if so, check the shocks.

I have had this as well, I had a four wheel alignment and balance...then had the rotors turned and it was 99% gone. How long (miles) has it been since you had an alignment?

Uneven tire wear, or flat spots will cause this as well. I had a '95 convertible that would on occasion feel and sound like it was going to shake apart at certain speeds. It wouldn't do it all the time for some reason.
