You guys know my vette has quite the resonance.. just as R94LT1. Today I decided to throw two pillows in the back to see if that would help reduce it more (relying on the same principle as the pillow in a bass drum to reduce resonance and reverberation). It seemed to do a pretty good job, nothing near a Lexus though.

Any other ideas I could try? I already replaced the carpeting and put dynomat back there. I have Flowmaster exhaust.

I used the crossover Y-pipe for my L98. Worked really well. But that might not apply to an LT1. Maybe someone makes something similar??

Hmm... just checked your website, and you have an H-pipe listed... And Dynamat... Only other thing I can think of would be stock mufflers!

Sorry I can't be of any (more) help.

Are your flowmasters 40 series (2 chamber) or 50 series (3 chamber)? I just got a pair of three chamber for my 86 and I hope they don't drive me nuts with resonance.

I don't know. I would assume they are 40 (2 chamber). They came already on the vette when I bought it and when I took off the exhaust for some work, I didn't see any model numbers or anything. I've heard the 3 chamber on trucks before and it seemed quiter than the 2 chamber's I've heard. I'm not sure about the resonance with those though.

You should be safe with the 3 chambers, they are quieter than the 2 chambers.

I had 3 chambers on my 87, and 89 they were fine with a 3.07 rear end.

On my 95 i had 2 chambers and lost the resonator. It had 2.59's it was not bad...

My 96 I had resonator and two chambers with 3.07's and it was pretty intolerable...

I recently went to a new system, I'll be telling everyone soon its in development and i'm under a NDA.. all I can say is so far it is totally awesome... stand by i'll keep ya'll posted...

Even Flowmaster warns about resonance with the 40 series.

this is an interesting conversation...

from what I have heard, the corsa cat back will remove the resonance.

I am curious what muffler eliminators would do... any guesses?

My tpis headers practically eliminated my resonance, and they help you go faster. Things don't rattle as much in the car either. By the way, I have a gutted cat and 2 1/2" Borla Catback.

Have a good exhaust shop weld in a rear crossover pipe. It should be inexpensive and may do the trick.

Finally got tired of the Flowmaster res. Went and ordered some Dyna Max welded Ultraflo mufflers 2.5 center in/out. VERY NICE change I can myself think the only res. is at 1200 RPM but goes away quickly car feels faster, but is a little louder under full throttle, but I'm going to fast to hear it.

I already have an H-pipe, but it is right before where the resonator used to be. I was thinking an X-pipe eventually. I've heard from lots of people that the X-pipe reduces resonance a LOT.
