For some reason today I'm big into manuals...
At least six months ago I called GM for a for a free manual.Don't recall what it was called but at the time other Forum members had called also and it sounded like they actually received them.I haven't.
Has anyone got one? Does anyone recall what the phone number is and if GM is still sending the manuals out.
Thanks
It was a restoration manual, I got it over a year ago, haven't looked at it yet. The website where I requested it is gone, so I don't know where you could get one.
At this time, I don't even know where mine is. I guess I better start looking.
Here you go. It took me a couple of tries on the phone but I finally got someone who knew exactly what I was talking about. I received it in about 3 weeks even though I was told something like 6-8 weeks. Good luck!

These are the #'s to get a restoration package. You will need your VIN when you call - (800)222-1020 or (810)696-4800.
I just called and I was told it has sources for restoration parts for you year and model corvette. I was also told that they only needed the year and the vin was not required. Thats what I got when I called the numbers provided above, and the manual is on the way.
I ordered this stuff last year when I first got my car. It's the spec sheets. It lists weigths, sizes, gear ratios, dimensions, etc. Nothing like a service manual - no part numbers. I think they want the VIN to get the right specs(i.e. on an 86 some things changed in the last part of the production cycle - aluminum heads, top fastener location, etc.)They also included a copy of what must have been a sales brochure with options that could have been ordered.
Did you know that the pistons were "impacted cast aluminum" with a mass of 0.597 grams each?
The total dressed engine mass (wt) dry is 519.9 lbs for the auto, 564.2 for the manual.
I got mine over a year ago. At the time I ordered it they asked for the VIN number and they checked to see if the car had any outstanding recall work needed.
When I talked to GM(Chevy) on the phone Thursday(from somewhere in Oregon...she couldn't tell me,wasn't allowed)She in fact explained to me that the GM service parts are included.
Oh well.We will see.
