About 2 years ago I painted the surface rusted tailpipes on my 1975 with ordinary spray paint. It was probably Krylon semi-flat since I really like that paint. Although I do not drive the car a whole lot, so far the paint looks looks like the day that I painted it. A friend of mine paints his 1994 tips with normal spray paint before each show but I have not noticed if it burns off in between. You might try the Krylon first.
You know, someone suggested to me to actually use BBQ paint, as they had done this themselves to their tips. This really doesn't sound like it would be half bad, but I really want the color to be accurate and not look "off". Judging from the way they appear now, the color should be a matte black - is that right? What do you think?
I think we were posting at exactly the same time, but you beat me to the punch. I guess the BBQ paint isn't such a bad idea. I'd have to try it out on something else first to check for color. Thanks.
I repainted my 95' a month ago and used high temp GM paint. The color is a satin finish black. They look great!! This also matched the factory sheen. You can find this paint in Kmart automotive department.
