When i press the brake pedal it seems that the booster is leaking air and the break pedal seems to softeen.
My mechanic told me that i need to change my booster and i found one at the corvette forum store that is made out of metal not plastic.
Has anyone ever used them, are they any good?

If the pedal actually feels spongy, its a hydraulic problem, air in the system. You might just perceive it as being spongy, because of the air rushing noise from the brake booster.
When the booster DOES go, you'll hear the engine stumble, along with maybe the air rushing noise, and the pedal will get HARDER (less vacuum assist).
Sounds like yours may be in the early stages of dying, but I'd recommend doing a full brake fluid flush first. Metal will last longer, I think GM went with plastic to lighten things up a little, or maybe just to see if they could... I believe it's the first car made with a plastic booster.
