I hear so much about the cool air coming from the front of the radiator creating more HP (like the "ram air" set ups use) than the hot under hood air from the air filters original position. So today I tried a test. I have a digital thermometer with two probes to register two different temps at the same time. It registers within .1 degree. So I installed one sensor in the air pick up area used by the after market ram air set ups and the other probe placed inside on the filter in the stock location. I then went for a thirty mile drive. About half in city driving and the other half on the open road. The outside air temperature was 85' The results were:
I am not suprised the temps are the same... what I would wanna know is what is the volocity is like.
Also, the pressure of the air at the location has a major inpact. That is why air drawn from the windscreen header is the best... low pressure. One of the BEST places to get air for pressure, is right above the tires. But the dirt will kill the filter!!!
