I finished installing the 8mm Taylor Spiro Pro wireset today, Woo Hoo!

She fired right up afterward and ran well. Took her out for run, and DAMN! I now believe that the stock OEM wireset the dealer put on when the changed the opti under GMPP ext warranty about 12,000 miles ago were defective somehow. I mean, I can feel a difference, stronger smoother pull. Shouldn't expect that from a wire change unless your old wires are bad. She wanted to gallop.

I was able to do the driver side without removing the serp belt! I just put front on jackstands, removed driver side wheel, moved ASR up and away, removed A-arm debris shield and rubber hood weather seal, aft A/C strut. I then went underneath and removed the old wires from opti and pulled them through what I have named during today's job as "The Hell Hole", that little area between the accessories (alternator and AC) mounting bracket and the power steering pump plumbing where the plug wires come out of from the opti (see photo below). Then starting with the #5 wire I inserted the opti end of each new wire into The Hell Hole, shimmied underneath and plugged it into the proper terminal of the opti, then the next one (#3), then #7 and #1, one by one. I lubed the edges of The Hell Hole w/ thin coat of Dielectric Gel to aid the boots going through. I then re-installed the factory wire looms and put a 30 degree forward bend on the loom closest to The Hell Hole to better accomodate the natural flow of the wires as they came out. Getting the #5 and #7 wires arranged into the last loom back by the 5 and 7 cyl was a bit of a pain. Due to the build of the Taylor 90 degree boots I had to clock the #7 wire boot a certain way to keep it from directly contacting the exhaust manifold heat shield and it put the wire into a difficult upward loop that required some thought as to how to best accomodate it in the loom.

Man, I am I glad that job is over with!

Some pics of the done deal (except for putting wheel, etc., back on):

It was truly a tedious affair, but not having to remove the serp belt and move any accessories made it a little less daunting...

Nice Job. How much did that set of wires go for.

Thx.

Taylor Spiro Pro 8mm custom fit wireset, '92 - 96 Corvette LT1/4, p/n 74225:

$52.69 + $8.95 S/H = $61.64 off Summit's web site online store.

The 1st "2" in the p/n denotes wire color of Red. Black is "0" (# 74025) and Blue is "6" (74625).
