When my top is off......
When I take the targa top off my 94 coupe and drive around, any bump I hit makes the drivers side auto lock and unlock for about 1 second. When the top is on, it gives me no problems at all. I changed the open door switch on the drivers door, but it did not fix it. Anyone with suggestions?

gee... a loose wire in the door lock??? I donno, that is odd!!!
However, all bets are off with the structural integrity of the C4 once the tops come out.
Even tho the problem is appearing in the door lock, the cause could be far away.
You see, the C4 was never supposed to be an open roof. The original design was to have a T-bar. However, the marketing wonks said, "loose the bar". McClellen said, "give me money," they replied, "no."
So, McClellen has to make do, hence, the appearance of the huge sills.
Keep in mind, whenever the roof is out, the firewall and such cantilever.
I am suggesting you check harnesses and grounds. This problem could manifest itself into a bigger problem down the road.
You need a factory service manual, www.helminc.com. It's pricy, but includes all the required wiring schematics.

When the top is off....
When the top is off, the frame flexes alot and it could be as simple as a ground or two wires touching each other. Do you find when the top is off, the car flexes or wants to go in a different direction when you hit a bump?

Had My Top Off Twice??
I've taken my TOP OFF maybe 2 times — in about a year and a half to 2
year intervals. I enjoy the openness of the ride, BUT! The ride is AWFUL!
And for that reason, I haven't taken it off but maybe twice in 4 1/2 years. Does anyone know what can be done to get a less "twisting /
flexing" ride. THANKS.
