Tranny.... un oh... :(

Ok well.. I think the low oil pressure is ok. It is only after hours of driving that the oil pressure is getting that low. I'm going to stick some 15w50 in there for the next month or so to keep the pressure up a little higher.
NOW... another problem..
. I have noticed lately (the past two days) that when my tranny down shifts from 3rd to 2nd, I was hearing some weird noise (like a chair being pushed along vynil flooring or something like that). At first I thought it was the serpentine belt.. now I don't think it is. I was in D and manually down shifted it and the noise was much louder, and it didn't sound like it was under the hood either. I down shifted it at about 10% throttle to keep the fluid pressure up in the tranny. Now I think I have a problem with the tranny
. Also to note, you're supposed to stay in 2nd gear the whole time when you put it in 2nd right??? Well.. mine is starting in 1st and shifting to second. I don't think it is supposed to do that either (according to the service manual)..
. Also, if I manually shift from 1st to D, it takes about 1.5 seconds to shift from 2nd to D... only .5 or so from 1st to 2nd.Sounds like my 2nd gear clutch pack life is winding down
.I would highly recommend not manually downshifting the transmission. This is very hard on the sprags - upshifting is okay (1-2-3, etc.) manually or otherwise, but not the opposite.
As for your problems, if you haven't recently try changing the tranny fluid and filter and see if this helps. Also check your fluid level. Note the amount of time it takes to shift at WOT - if this is excessive then chances are good you may be due for a rebuild!
took it and had a part fluid change and a filter change and the problem just disappeared (although it took 2 days after the filter change) it did go away!
You really think that after having it done only 2 months ago (2k miles), that this might fix it? I am kind of doubtful.
BTW, I paid $60 for the flush (with the pump they hook up). You got filter and flush for $60? Damn firestone...

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
mid america has the kits for the 700R4 for $20, and the 4L60E for $30
like i said before, it may save you $1200 or so, then again, nothings guaranteed!
i was seriously in the same boat...couldn't afford a new tranny or a rebuild for that matter, luckily it worked for me!

ahhhH! sucks to be me... [img]http]//www.corvetteforum.cc/ubb/frown.gif[/img]I guess that I can start saving up now for the rebuild in the future. If I save up for it rather than do it now, I can put in a higher stall TC, tranny cooler, and hopefully a shift kit at the same time. I guess this is more important than the engine upgrades I was planning on, so the money I had set aside for the LT4 hot cam kit is going into the "tranny fund" ...
