I just purchased a nice 86 vette with an automatic tranny and was wondering what mods you would suggest to make it more reliable and powerful, it was purchased in California with california emissions but I do not need to worry about emissions in my state. Also my car has 136000 miles and I was wondering if the cam gear is all metal or nylon and aluminum so I can schedule replacement now or later.

I've not seen anything on timing chain/gear longevity. Since I have 110k miles on my L98 I decided to give her new valve springs while I was adding full roller rockers. You've got mail with some mods/results on a '90 L98.
