It's on the back of the motor. just about dead center. Between the manifold and the firewall.. it's about the size of.... Ummm I dunno a little smaller then a tiny paper cup.. it's silver and has a wire coming right out the top.
...There's two back there - one for the idiot light; one for the digital dash readout...
...They'll both leak like hell if you let 'em...

Actually, one is for the digital dash readout and the other is for the FUEL PUMP RELAY. If the oil pressure gets below a few pounds, the fuel pump loses power.
I replaced my L98 sending unit last Sat 21 Jul and it took about 1 hr, that is taking out wiper motor and wires from distributor, other then that it was a piece of cake, good luck, oh I did use a medium sized channel lock pliers to unscrew and put back in,
Reviving one of the oldest threads I've seen to ask a question.

This area of my car caught on fire the other day. The "fuel pump relay sensor" is melted and unusable. It took me a long time just to find this thread where someone correctly identified this item in the first place. Other threads were saying it was a temperature sensor. I even found an LS swap thread that referred to it as a temp sensor.
What is the correct name or part number for this "fuel pump relay sensor" and where do I get one? Is it just a temp sensor being used to trigger the fuel pump relay? Tell me it isn't this very expensive sensor.
It is an oil pressure SWITCH.
the body of the switch is grounded, and when the oil pressure builds a few pounds, the switch makes, and provides a ground for the fuel pump incase the Fuel pump relay fails.
that way, the fuel pump has a second path to energize, keeping you from being stranded
Ah, thanks for the explanation and the link. O'Reilly had one for about the same price as Rock Auto so I went with them. It's nice that GM put a fair amount of planning into this particular aspect of the C4.
