I went out yesterday for test and tune at Route 66 Raceway for the 1st time. I got in six runs with the best of 14.11 in the 1/4 at 98.2 with 2.116 60'. Considering mods was that a good time? I was hoping to break into the 13's but considering the temp was 92 w/ very high humudity that was almost impossible. Can anyone give me a good prediction as to what my car is capible of in lower weather?
I'd say you could break into the 13's with a lower ambient temp and lower humidity. And I assume it is an automatic because of the 3.07 gears, which means if you get a good hook up you should do even better.
That's pretty typical. You have to keep in perspective that your time is still better than most cars on the road today For whatever reason, my car will not break the 13 second barrier as it sits now. I've tried removing the air filter, advancing timing, lowering tire pressure etc. Heck, I've even let it cool down so far that the thermostat opened back up just as I was rolling up to stage.
When comparing to many of the times seen here, many of the active drag racers come from the east coast at lower altitudes so it isn't fair to compare yourself to them directly if you are at higher elevations. We are at nearly 1000' above sea level in this area.

With a 2.0 60', your car is in the 13's. [img]http]//www.corvetteforum.cc/ubb/smile.gif[/img]Just keep practicing your launches (or get stickier tires) and you'll be there. It will a lot easier when the weather changes this fall.
Lower temps and you're absolutely in the 13s. I hit 14.15 one day, 14.07 two days later, and then 13.892 finally the next time I went out. You just need to learn the car.
Congrats on some good runs. Look to your trap speed as a HP indicator and ET as more a function of how well you launch.
Looks like 13s if you can hook up bettter and/or run in better weather. If you know the temp and baro there are equations on my site to normalize your runs to standard conditions. My sig shows how much weather can matter.
Also, Chevy HP, Sept, 2001 has a nice article on the effects of weather on performance. It says each 10% increase in RH adds 0.01sec to your ET.
I'm thinking of getting one of those $99 weather stations from Summit. Knowing the weather is realy the only to compare runs from week to week.
