Wierd clunk--but not a clunk...

its a shunk....
well...ive done all the u-joints and wheel bearing on my 85....front and rear
recently ive been getting a SHUNK when i put it into reverse....
I almost sounds like a cue ball hitting the 8 ball....not a clunk but a shunk
Could i have no fluid in the differential...ive notices some leaking, but it looks like its comming from the blow hole..the sound seems to be comming from the rear end..but im having a hard time finding exactly where the sound is because it only happens (usually) with the first gear move of the day...and when i go home from work...
thats is the only time it does it...i put it in drive...no shunk...can put it back into reverse...no shunk......any help is greatly appreciated..
