Default Help! How to remove sun visors?

Got a set of replacement sun visors for my 85 coupe, but can't figure out how to remove the old ones. Remove the windshield trim? Take the top off? The new visors do have the steel rods inside them, with a small nut and washer included. Greatly appreciate some advice from someone who has done this, I'd rather not start randomly taking things apart. Thanks!

On my 94', I took the top off and where it bolts up in the front, they have a small trim plate on both sides. And if I remember right after you get those trim plates off the sun visor bolts are exposed. They do have springs and a washer. My washer was suck and when I finally popped it off my spring popped out and I spent all night looking for it. Good luck.

If you remove the top there are a couple of plastic covers around the top corners of the windshield. Once you remove these, you'll see a one way speed nut a cupped washer and a spring. If your new visors have a threaded rod and nut you may be able to just pry off the one way speed nut and install the new ones with the provided hardware. Otherwise, you may have to buy new speed nuts to put it back together. It's not hard to do. Good Luck.

I had to pry open the speed nut/washer after I got the nut off the visor shaft.

I believe you'll need to loosen the header bezel so you can unplug the visor mirror lights.

Thanks guys! That's just what I needed to know. I'll pull the top off tomorrow, and take a look in there.
