After reading all the many posts on this forum on pros and cons of removing MAF screens -- "it increases air flow", "it screws you up because the screens were there to smooth the air flow", "do it", don't do it"-- I'm glad to see that GM has endorsed this "hot rodder trick" as part of the formula to squeeze more horsepower out of the LS6.
Check out the pictures of the LS6 MAF Sensors on page 7 of the July 2001 issue of "America's Sports Car" (the NCM Magazine). The "old" MAF has screens, the "new" "low restriction" MAF does not! You'll also see that they cut open the air box too!!! Another thing we have been doing for years.
