Ok, so Im getting close to pulling the trigger and getting a super ram. Im currently building a 383 stroker with a 5.7" rod, hyper pistons (cant find forged to keep compression down on stock heads) three angle and pocket ported heads, hooker long tubes, LT4 Hot cam with a 1.5 or 1.6 roller rocker, air pump eliminator, all on an automatic with a shift kit and 2400 stall converter. What times can I expect with and without the Super Ram intake system. Also, What all is necessary to do the install. Can I use the stock fuel rail? All Im looking at purchasing is the Intake plenum runners and manifold... Will that do the trick. Its from a fellow member as well so I think its been installed and modified for that install. Just looking for experience here.

Your short-comings will be the cylinder heads. I'd have them professionally (CNC if possible) ported to take advantage of the better flowing intake. If you go with the Super Ram and a bigger cam without opening those heads up you won't be as happy as you can.

Im already having them pocket ported and a three angle valve job. The machine shop may have opened them up even more but thats all I know of. The 58mm will have to wait I think, Ill stick with stock assemble the motor, and then replace that throttle body in a few weeks.

Even with the stock heads pocket ported you will still will not see the full effect of the motor... I know this first hand..

Last year I installed an new 355 in my vette.. approx 10:1 compression with a ZZ9 cam, Miniram, 52mm TB, Full length headers, PFP Cat and Flowmaster cat back..

My best 1/4 mile time was 13.82 at 99mph

This past winter I changed 2 things.. I swapped the pocket ported heads for CNC L98 heads, and installed two Random 2-1/2" cats with a LT1 Flowmaster cat back..

My new best is 12.82 @ 110 basically.. only change was heads and exhaust. I honestly think you should consider CNC'ing your heads. now is the time while it is apart.. you won't regret it...

This is a very similar sounding set-up to the 383 I had built (and am trying to sell in the other forum). I can tell you from experience that you really don't need the 58mm TB with the set-up you've described. You'd probably benefit from a 52mm but a 58mm would be a slight bit of overkill (possibly slightly more HP up top but you'd be a bit more sluggish in the RPM range you'll be in most the time). I must say I've absolutely loved my SuperRam.

Thats exactly what I want to hear diletante. Im going to go ahead and buy it off the forum member. I hope everything works out, Ill probably need alot of help on the install. Ive heard of much better numbers than 13.8 out of the stock heads, much better. I could of gotten that out of sticky tires and my stock setup. We'll see how everything comes together, I think the custom chip I have printed will really pull it all together also.

Your setup sounds awesome. The stock fuel rail will work, but put in a replacement set of Orings (cheap). Larger injectors (#24's) would also be nice at this time. (Thats what I did). I went with the 52mm throttle body too. I have the SR install instructions in MS word if you need them, along with hints from forum members. I also went with new sensors. You will be asking soon where to mount that Map sensor plate. Try to replace as many rubber vacumn hoses as possible. Good Luck. Chris
