I still get this hesitation when the throttle is opened. The engine will stumble a bit before reving up. Does it warm and cold. Replaced the cap, rotor, and coil, Used a Hypertech coil kit. New Taylor wires. Plugs are in great condition. Engine idles good. Base timing at 6 degrees. What could cause this stumble? Please help. I dont want to take it in somewhere. Any ideas please.

Check/adjust the TPS setting, my method is on my site. Also gap your plugs to .045" with that ignition setup.

My TPS is set to .54 closed 4.1 WOT. Just did that. Also reset curb idle, closed the IAC, then unplug it and set base idle. That made a world of difference in the idle. Plug gap is .035". I will try .045 tonight. Should the plugs have anti sieze on the threads?

A guy was just on here with a similar problem his would hesitate & sometimes backfire.Anyway he replaced his fuel injectors & all was well.
You can test for leakage by squirting water at the injectors & listen for bogg or you can squirt a fuel at them & listen for idle speed increase.I think they use diesel fuel for saftey.
You can check them for resistance also, but I dont know how many Ohms there supposed to read.

The injectors all read the same ohmic value. I dont remember what is was. Tried using propane around the intake amd injectors looking for leaks. That didnt work worth a sh**. Idle is not water glass smooth. I have heard of a 3M product that is supposed to be about the best injector cleaner. It might be worth a try.

just something more to check did you plug the distributer lead back in the one you disconnected to set the base timing ..if it's unplugged you'll get a bad hesitation

Ive just been hearing about "Vacuming" the entire system.Mabey a post about it would teach us more about it.
Supposedly it cleans the injectors & the intake & all the sensors. But I dont know how it works.

Try the water method I mentioned.
Bad o-rings on the injectors is very common.

you might also want to check your fuel filter. mine was doing the same thing and i thought it might be either the fuel filter or the cats I decided to try the cheaper one first. fuel filter worked.
