I am about to remove my tranny, and work on my car for the next year or so and plan to move in 4 months, now am I able to move my car onto a trailer without the tranny and drive shaft in place or would this lead to some problems? Or is it best to wait 'till after I move? Any ideas would help, thanks.

You will have to push the car to move it, but other than that there are no problems at all.

Just make sure no wires are hanging too low.

There are no potential problems moving the car when the engine/tranny are out.

Just remember to use the parking brake, 'cause Park doesn't have any effect.

You're better off removing the drive shaft from the car at this point. Change the u joints while the trans is out and put the clean shaft in the back of the car. This way for sure you won't be dragging it around. It WILL spin so tying it up would be a bigger hassle.

Before you roll it around, insure that the steering wheel(column) is unlocked or you cannot steer after it hits the lock detent.

Thanks everyone,
Wasn't sure if the car would fall apart or something w/o the backbone in place. See you all on the road (in a year or two)

I hate to say it but you guys are wrong. The tranny is the rear support for the engine. When you remove the tranny you have to support the rear of the engine w/ a jack or something or it will lean on the fire wall & do damage to the dist. evan w/ the cap removed. Take my word on this I just instaled an ac delco reman trans which was defective so I had to do it twice.

A agree with reeltime. Also the c-brace that supports the differential to tranny will have nothing to support it and so the differential will be want to twist too.

Reeltime is right you MUST support the rear of the engine, it can damage the motor mounts too if you don't. Also make index marks on the splines and driveshaft to avoid any vibration problems on reinstallation.
