When I pull up to a stop sign/stop light and push in the clutch, the engine idles at about 1000 to 1200 RPM, I lightly tap the throttle, the idle drops to where it belongs: 600 to 700 RPM. Not really a problem, more like an annoyance but I would like to fix it. Thank you for your help.

I was surprised to see how much black gunk accumulated on the pintle of the Idle Air control valve after only 30k miles after a rebuild. I took it out and cleaned the pintle and the seat thoroughly with throttle body cleaner (STP brand. don't use carb cleaner!) and voila! end of erratic idle. I'd do this as a maintainance thing before chasing down trouble codes.

check your throttle cable also, if the wire gets kinked it will cause that same problem
