So today is the 2nd time I've had a Code 36, and my engine died on me. First time was last week, was going about 70mph on the freeway. Tranny went for a downshift and suddenly the engine died. Came right back in but with a code. Got home, cleared the code, and hasn't done anything until today. Stopped on my driveway, went into reverse, engine dies. Started the car back up, code was back. Cleared it, seems its constant now.
Two questions. I thought with a Code 36 the engine shouldn't die, just loose performance. Second, is the DynaSpark opti replacement worth the money, or should I try upgrading to a vented unit?
yup opti... Mine would loose fire if i stayed in it it would set a code and run as you said at reduced performance... or it would stall I'd struggle for a few moments to get the car relit and it wouod set a code...
Well the DynaSpark comes with the updated stuff + venting.
I know if I switch to a 95-96 model I would need new parts, can't recall everything (timing cover, timing gears, etc). But the question is, can I do it any cheaper then the DynaSpark (believe its around 600)?
The parts are rather extensive, and, with the DynaSpark, it isn't required. Besides, the DynaSpark should last longer than the OptiSpark - either version.
