I heard from a friend that there is a highway blower that doesn't require any hood modifications and will increase hp by around 100. Does anyone have or heard of one of these? How is it?

I was gonna order up a K&N air filter, air foil, and a cut air lid, but I don't want to order anything in the next few days if I can get something that will be much better like the blower.

LOL! I thought this had to do with snow or something. [img]http]//www.corvetteforum.cc/ubb/smile.gif[/img]

I think he is looking for a vortech/ati/paxton supercharger.

I have no clue what he's talking about either, but he says its a blower. From what he described, it sounded like it was a RAM air.

okay, no ram air is going to up your HP by 100hp.

he had to be talking about a blower like vortech or pro charger. They fit under hood.

if you decide to get one of these systems, post a topic here about what system you want. There are many people here in this forum who can lead you in the right direction.

I have a '92 LT1.

If they can install a supercharger with no hood mods, why couldn't you put in a turbo? Do they even make them?

HOLY MOTHER OF GOD!!! $3000-$4000 for a supercharger??? I think I'll hold off on that one for a while. If I did decide to add one later on, would the mileage on the car be any concern? I wouldn't have to worry about blowing the engine, would I?

Because with a supercharger you only have to have room in front of the engine, where there is a little to spare. With turbo you have to find a way to get into the exhaust system and that's more than a little cramped on the LT1. It's not impossible, but it'll cost you a lot more than the supercharger will.

And I'll bet she cost a lot less than $5,000!

Maybe this reverts back to the leaf blower idea someone posted a few months back??? I thought about that idea, but using it for brake cooling ducts instead. Seems we with the LT1 have one blower for free already installed in the front left headlight area. The electric smog pump......hmmmmm..sorry to have gone off on a tangent.

A friend told me yesterday that if you hook up that AIR pump to a lawnmower it'll generate up to 5 pounds of boost. Hmm, kinda pointless, but neat.
