Auto Tranny Squeal

On hard acceleration, my 88 auto makes a short "squeal" as it shifts from 1st to 2nd and again from 2nd to 3rd. Sounds just like a belt slipping for a second, but it seems to be right at the moment the tranny shifts. This only happens on very hard acceleration. Car is bone stock and only 12K miles. Tranny? Rear gears? Ideas?

My 89 coupe had tranny problems, and i took 3 days of my life( ALL DAY ) to delve into "transmission rebuilding 101 self taught." When i finnished , it did exactly what you are refering to. My tranny only lasted 12k miles after that. I had paid a transmission shop to install the seals on one of the drums inside the tranny , because it required some special tools. After the tranny went out the second time, i had someone else redo it, and sure enuff, they found those seals broken! 
This is totaly inconclusive to your question, as your car has such low miles, but i suppose it is a possibility.

Of course your car will break the tires loose on the 1-2 shift. Mine will too. I had never heard a transmission squeel like this prior to mine doing it either, but it would make the same noise on a wet road. So it definatly was not the tires!

Last night was first time I've dropped the car to WOT from a standstill to see how she would do (shortly after a light rain), had to show it off a little 
That breaking loose between the shifts is fun as hell ;P Hrmm I do wonder how people drive cars with like double the horse power as it's scary enough as is.
