Well,today was the day. I have been running the same 383 motor for 7 years. Lots of runs with and without spray.I have a feeling that the dipstick jumping out and the oil squirting out means it is time to bury it.
She will be missed.
Looks like you need to pull out that back up motor and finally install it! You knew this day was coming, but I think you got your moneys worth out of this motor.

Thanks for the kind words guys. I got pretty lucky. I was able to make the 2 hr drive home(with the help of 2 qts of oil). Still ran 11.70 @113 on the run it popped. Could be much worse. The new 406 is already assembled and on the stand. Just have to get my lazy butt in gear and get it swapped. Lucky for us we get 8 months of snow and cold so I won't be bored this January!
