Welcome, you will find us very helpfull and supportive! But please look at all the options open to you in terms of places to post messages!
Welcome, temporary neighbor. Two things you will absolutely need to deal with the electronics, are a decent DVOM and a factory service manual. Helm Inc. publishes the factory service manual for Chevrolet. You will see it referred to on here as the "Helms". Head HERE and place your order.

Welcome!!! The guys on here are damn near geniouses. I've read stuff explained in such an eloquant technical fashion... you'd almost swear they were part of the GM design team.
Enjoy your ride (once fixed)... feed the addiction.
Welcome to the Forum and congrats on your new '87 Vette.
Since you are a wrench turner, pick a copy of the GM Shop Manual for your Vette. It not only has all the mechanical and specs you will need but a complete description of the ECM and it's inputs, outputs and detailed trouble shooting guides. Also, the electrical suppliment has complete wiring diagrams, schematics and junction locations.
Welcome aboard.
I think that you will find a lot of help ideas here.
The scan and tune section, The C4 general section are also very informative.
Don't miss the General Corvette forum section. The wheels and Tires and care care sections are also quite interesting
