Default Still get code 13 o2 after sensor change, question.

I've been getting code 13 o2 sensor, I installed a new ac/delco sensor but still get the SES light and code 13.

1. A new but bad sensor?

2. A bad ground from ECM. Page 6e3-a-24 from service book. Where would this wire be? I don't own the manuals, yet!

3. Per the book, code 13 set from car not at operation temp. My car runs cool with the weather being under 50F. I'll see coolant temps. around 160 cruising. Maybe my thermostat is stuck open? The car will get hot at idle. The SES light does seem to go out when the car gets hot. I've not fully tested that yet though.

Any ideas?

I thought that might help but it did not. After installing the new o2 I still got the code and light, disconnected battery, drove car again, still get light and same code 13.
I stopped at a dealer and they copied that page out of the service manual. I'd like to check the ground but am not sure of that location. ECM is the computer by the fuse box, on the passenger side?

4. I guess number four could be there I have two o2 sensors? I changed one o2 sensor on the drivers side and do not see anything on the passenger side. I took the car in and did pass emissions with real low numbers.

put the car in the air and check each sensor with a multimeter. If you set the meter to read millivolts and connect to the positive\negative leads, you should notice the range fluxuate between 100-999. 500 being half. It should hover around the half way point, but constantly switching between rich and lean. If it does not crest 500 in either direction, you know what to do. 100-499 = lean 501-999 = rich.

Also, check your fuel pressure regulator. My nieghbor had an S10 blazer that that happened to. It turned out that the FPR went bad causing the mixture to be lean all the time. I'm still not totally familiar with vette codes, but if it is running lean and all O2 sensors are working... it may be fuel filter, pump, or injectors... hope that helps.

wha fuse?

I'm thinking more that it's a ground issue after driving today. I got home and exited the car, looking back I did not see the security light flashing. This is odd I thought. I looked at all angles and the light was not flashing. I unlocked the door, opened it, the door lights came on and the the security light started flashing. Some kind of ground problem or electrical gremlin?

When replacing the O2 sensor (regardless of what the book says) It is strongly recommended to put antisieze on the O2 sensoe when putting it in. Also, make sure you Torque it to proper specs ( unsure of the specs). The ground IS the connection between the sensor body and the exhaust. Give it a shot and see what happens. Also, make sure it is the O2 sensor that is the problem. Remember, the O2 sensor is only the monitor.

I don't know about yours but my '95 has a fuse that was blown when I replaced my O2 sensors.
