Default Rear Hatch Lock Not Working

I have an 86 and the rear had will not unlock. Is there a manual way to open the hatch to allow checking the electrical parts.

When you push the hatch realease buttons you hear a click but not the normal 'Thump'.

I had that problem had to replace the latch in the rear. got one on ebay cheap. there's a cable in the back under the carpet beneath the latch that you have to find that will open the window if you need to.
You will have to get the window open to replace the latch assembly, make sure you line up the new latch so your window closes properly.

I went rooting around and found the 'emergency' cable. It is located on the right side of the car about 3 inches off center. I tied a short piece of string around the 'nut' on the cable and pushed it up under the security shade so it will be easy to get to in the future.
