I have a 92 vette, I have already chipped it
But was wondering if anyone has swapped out a ECM from a 94 and
Installed into a 92 cause it seems that the Hypertech programmer gives you allot more adjustment control.
unless their is some software i can get for my laptop for around the same price and is also just as painless, i'm all
I have a 93 and looked into it. Going to 94 computer for me means converting to mass air-flow instead of speed density system. I'm not sure what 92 is, but I would imagine your's is like mine and lacks the MAF sensor. In theory it could be done, but I don't think you can just plug in the computer, you would also have to change the wiring harness, as well as add MAF sensor. I think something was different with O2 sensors as well. I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will chime in.
There are lots of options out there for tweaking your ECU just like the hypertech using a laptop. You can have someone burn a chip for you (http://www.azzatochips.com/) he's active on forum, or do a search for ROMulator / emulator / tunercat. Here's a couple sites http://www.tunercat.com/ http://www.moates.net/.
92 is a speed density ECM. 94 uses a MAF for it's primary input.
There are many people around that will do a better job than a Hypertech unit. Hypertech, typically isn't worth the $. Their approach is not too far off from GM's,... one size fits all.
