Default Spark Plug Wire Question?

Just to make sure, will the same plug wires that fit LT1 f-bodies fit on the LT1 vettes. It seems most places online sell them for both cars. Also wondering if the OTVC kits fit both also?

And does anyone have any links or recommendations for the cheapest place to buy good wires? I think i'm either going with MSD's or Taylor spiros. Thanks.

You'll want to get the kit specific for your car. My experience has been that you can order the Vette wires and use them on an F-body, in fact they actually work better. You cannot however use the F-body wires on a Vette.

On a Z-28 all of the accessories run to the passenger side, on a Vette they all run to the driver's side. This calls for different plug wire routing and thus different length wires.

Thanks, I needed to know this before I bought any wires from anyone off a f-body forum.

Now, where are the best deals on these wires??

I bought from Summit Racing. The online prices seem to only vary by about $5. I bought Moroso Blue Max wires. But Taylor and MSD are good too. Between taylor and msd I would lean toward msd, just because I tried Taylors and didn't like the weird plug boots. Taylor plug boots are a bit bulkier than standard and on the #1 and #2 cylinder, at least with a stock exhaust manifold and heat shield, there is practically no way to clock the boot on the plug to get more than 1/16" or maybe 1/8" at best clearance from the thumb grip side of the boot to the heat shield... at least on my '95 which has stock manifold and heat shield. But the msd's are 8.5mm and there are reports they don't fit in the stock wire looms without boring them out a little.

Accel wires are comparable to Taylor and have OEM type boots. Also, I've read during the online research I did prior to buying wires, that Bosch Ferro-Spiral Core wires are pretty good wires for the money (they cost less). Correct me if I'm wrong someone, but I think Mercedes puts Bosch Ferro-Spiral Core wires on all their AMG version cars as factory OEM?

I like them. Yes, they're spiral core. Moroso claims 800 ohms per foot resistance, but also claims an optimized and tuned combo of inductance, resistance, and capacitance which, according to them, maximizes energy to the spark plug. They claim to have had independent testing done against leading competing brands to prove theirs delivers more spark energy in measured in millijoules, all while having the lowest RFI/EMI emissions among leading wire brands. Read their company hype here:

http://www.moroso.com/articles/artic...piralCore.html

in their comparison graphs I'm GUESSING that "brand T-409" is Taylor's 409 wires, and "brand A-300" is Accel 300's, and "Brand M1" is MSD's, and "brand A-8.8" is Accel's 8.8mm offering. Guessing...

Part # @ Summit for Moroso Blue Max custom fit to 92 - 96 Vette is MOR-72524

On the set Summit sent me, I had to adjust the boots down farther on the distributor end of the wires to get the terminals flush with the end of the boot-- terminals were hanging out as shipped.

But they woke my '95 up. However, I do believe my 12,000 mile OEM stock carbon core wires might have been messed up, hard to beleive a set of spiral core wires could make so noticeable of a seat of pants difference alone.

I'm still running the AC Rapidfire #14 plug. I had a problem with the boots on the Moroso's want to hang on for dear life when I went to pull #2 and #4 to ungump the way I gumped the wire routing on that side. They really hung on. I was going to ditch the rapidfire's because it really is caused by the smooth ribless insulator of the rapidfire plugs (suction seal problem), but I ended up leaving them in and just using extra di-electric gel and a promise to go buy a plug boot puller before I change plugs again in a couple years.

I have the rapidfire's gapped @ .055 LT stock is .050, Ac delco parts online says to gap rapidfire's at .060, so i compromised.
