Default Idle issue re-visited.

Okay I've replaced just about everything now & still have the same issue.

Idle varies between 900 & 1200 RPM when the car is rolling but on occasion when first starting up. Always seems to settle down a minute at most after start up.

When rolling, forward or reverse, a few seconds after the the car comes to a complete stop the idle drops to 800 & stays put.

Example would be rolling up to a stop sign, put the clutch in & the idle does its little game as I'm rolling up. After I stop it might do it one or two more times then settles down.

I've replaced the IAC & the IAC/coolant housing on the bottom of the throttle body. While I had the TB off for that I completely cleaned up all the deposits in both the front/back/top/bottom of the TB & IAC passages. It was "spotless" when I put it back together. No change in the issue.

Same issue with both the stock chip & an after market that I'm now running.

I have the coolant bypassed by the way. Since I bought the new IAC house I even cut the stupid fittings off flush so they don't stick out. If for some crazy reason I need it back I'll have to put the old housing back on.

Does anyone have any ideas?

the shafts on the throttle body could be wore and leaking vacumn thru them causing the idle problem. the factory just puts the shafts in with a rubber o ring seal that wears out after a while, then the shaft bores get elongnated.

What he said, GM TB doesnt have bearings, so the TB wears over time and the holes go oval; then the blades get stuck in part-open position, hence "wild idle syndrome"

I have it too, just don't care atm.

e-mail dkoldos@ameritech.net, he sells rebuilt TBs on e-bay, with bearings installed, and a slew of other mods, good stuff apperantly.

I seem to also be having the same problem, I'm 90% certain its because of the TB as well. I tested the TPS voltage a few months ago and it was fine, but I didn't test the AIC. My symptoms are very much the same, sometimes it will stay stuck between 900 to 1200 rpm when at a stop sign, but it I tap the gas pedal slightly it will go back to down 700rmp.

I also don't' really care at the moment....

Iv'e learned to live with it. Maybe someday I'll replace the TB or get it machined with bearings.

Heh, you guys have it easy then haha.. My TB is massively messed up - my idle can go up to 2k.. Again a tap of the gas fixes it, but somewhat annoying while braking (with the motor pulling)
