Power steering quit and running hot
My daughter has the 95 LT1 at college a couple of hours away from home. She just called and said the power steering was out when she started the car, but then started working after driving a while. She said she drove about three miles and the coolant temperature was much higher than normal. She checked the belt and it was fine and didn't see any leaks.
I don't know how these two problems could be related. Anybody had this happen or have any ideas?

water pump has quit.
it's dumping coolant onto the belt, killing the powersteering. stop driving it and replace the pump.
DO NOT LET THEM REPLACE THE OPTISPARK!!! The 95s are much better sealed, and some coolant should not harm them.

Thanks for the response. I will have her check again for water pump leak. That was my first response to her was to check the weep hole for water. There is about 70k miles on this water pump so it is due.
