Default Super Ram questions

1. Will the Super Ram runners interfere with the Proform tall valve covers?

2. Has anyone used an AFR 210 CC or equivelant head with the SR? Curisou as to your impressions of the 210's where traditonally people have used afr-195's

TIA

EDIT:

I am aware that the 210's need to have material welded on the runners for a 1206, not a problem.

Some of the search posts state the Proforms work and some say you need to trim grind the runners a tad.

TIA

ID85,
I have Proform medium height valve covers and I have no issues with the SR fitment. The vavle cover and their studs/bolts are installed after SR is complete. The only issue you will have with the tall cover will be your windshield wiper motor. I had to modify my wiper motor slightly for the covers to fit.
I can't see where additional height will effect the SR.

I had the black krinkle proforms when I had my SR. I had to trim the runners and slightly notch the valve covers where they hit the runners. Alot of the interference had to do with my crower rocker arms. They made the area between the valve cover and the sr runners very very tight! If are using the promag rockers you would be better off.
As far as the runner size on your heads I think a 210cc would be overkill, but not so much that it will hinder its power though. The 195's would maintain a better velocity. If you were running alot of cam then the 210's would become an advantage......but the super ram would no longer be the intake of choice.

I matched my SR base to a set of track 1s with a 1206 runner. I used a double thick, trim to fit gasket. I couldn't get the SR to match exactly, but it was close and i was able to seal it...barely, but it worked.

If you go with double thick gaskets, make sure your distributor shaft is engaging the oil pump enough. I had to shim the distributor and use a thinner gasket on the distributor.....no big deal, but just keep an eye on it. Mine was only engaging about 1/8 inch, before the mods above, which concerned me.

Thanks for the help guys. I hoped I would not have to trim the "pretty" Proform polished valve covers. After reading a bunch of search posts, its 50/50 so time will tell.

Ralph, since you have the Track 1's, the AFR-210's I should be OK. Thanks for the heads up on the distributor enagement.

In welding more material to the runner area, I hope they will seal well but I will pay special attention to this. If all goes well, I will have it all together over the x-mas break.

AS84 if the AFR website is reasonably accurate, the 210's flow virtually the same as the Comp Ported 195's, I agree some low end velocity could be lost but it cant be any worse than the Miniram. I wonder what CC the 195 Comp Ported end up being when they are done maybe 200cc?

My cam is in my sig, and I dont think it will be a detriment, if it is I'll get another, BUT, I wont be reving past 5800 RPM so float is not an issue and from what I have read, 85vet and others shift anywhere from 5200rpm to 5800rpm depending on their tranny, gears etc.

I still plan on new rear gears but as 85vet previously suggested, 3.54's will likely be the gear of choice before spring to go with the new ZF 6 speed.

I went with a set of talls on mine. The drivers side was the one that had to be modified to clear the wiper motor.

My shift light is actually set at 5100 - since it takes time to shift - tranny to engage etc - and with the quickness of the 3:54 gears - by the time I shift the engine is in its power band 5600 -5900. I have tried 5000 through 5600 and 5100 seems to be the sweet spot on mine.
