Lights, radio, A/C, all power works, new battery. After an hour of cussung at and repeadetly trying to get to start, it fired right up. Every since it fires up every time. I'm thinking my chip in the key might be wearing out. I'm afraid to drive the thing anywhere and chanse it not starting. Any ideas???
Yea I have the same problem. For a couple years. Very frustrating. Very intermittent. Happens every 50?-60+? starts. Everything works but no crank turnover. Have to wait usually one hour. And I can't try to start it for an hour. Or the problem resets (for an hour), I think. One time about 20 minutes after I messed with all kinds of things including fuses. But it did not start right away after fiddeling with things. Still had to wait awhile. I have installed the VATS bypass, new alternator, rebuilt starter, new battery (year ago). Someone recommended I change the coolant temp sensor, did it. Tried shifting through neutral on the automatic. Wiggling the shifter. Different keys. I called the local dealer and they said they never heard of that problem. Bring it in we will learn together. NOT! Sounds like a boat payment to me. Took it to a local garage for smog check and told them the problem. They said they found a frayed wire on the starter. It seemed to fix it for awhile but the car did it three times the last 4 months. I'm going to put it up on stands and check things out. So what is up??? Can anyone help?
Sounds like VATS to me too... Happened to me one time ever & after about 20 min. it reset. I happened to have tools & tried everything including unhooking the batt. Fuel pump etc all powered up but no crank.
Know on wood, never happened since & thats been like 4+ years ago.
Make sure you check all grounds too. I had a connector fail the second time I installed my engine. Ended up splicing & soldering it to the second ring that went to the same stud where bell housing bolts to block on left side.
