L98 Air Filter Question
On my 91 Firebird, I had an SLP Cold Air Induction package on it. I found that by removing the thing and having it suck air directly out of the mouth of the TB, I gained 20 HP. I was thinking of having a K&N RC-5000 filter on the mouth of the TB in my vette. However, I know I would be sucking in hot engine air which hurts the power.
In my case now, I think I might be able to get away with it since I am installing a Greenwood hoodscoop with the mouth open. It will look like:

Pic 3
Since the hood scoop will be letting in fresh cool air, would I be fine to just remove the air filter and stuff and stick the cone filter on the end of the TB or not? TIA

The stock set up will take in more air, that is why they have not built the similar aftermarket intake that the C5s have for the C4. Unless you build a true Ram Air setup you will be wasting your money.

seeing your pic1 and 2 I was afraid you was thinking to go with the Hole in the hood!
Then I see the pic3..
I think that with the colder air you can use the cone filter directly in the TB. But I don't think you will see an increment on HP..

The scoop is necessary simply to clear the Holley Stealthram. I was debating between getting a K&N that fits the stock filter housing or getting a cone filter to replace everything.
