Default Which headers?

Okay, I am seriously thinking about getting long tube headers. But I have no idea which ones I should get. I did a search and there didnt seem to be a thread discussing the different headers available. So, what do you all recommend? Im also wondering where the best price is for them.

Im also hearing that LT headers are illegal in CA. Is this true?

Thanks in advance for all the great corvetteforum advice.

Do another search. Before that, scroll down this page of topics. There has been much blood shed over this very subject.

Really, I didnt find anything in the search about the different headers. There are a lot regarding what mods to do next, LT gains... etc... but the content did not discuss which headers to go for.

Also, why are LT headers illegal in CA?

All long tube headers are illegal in California, none have a CARB certification.

And probably the biggest reason they aren't C.A.R.B. certified, and have on E.O. number, is that the cats have to be relocated.

As long as they have an E.O. number, long tubes are legal in California.
Check with various manufacturers. I believe Hedman has two different part numbers (coated and uncoated) Good Luck
BTW, what year vette?

for the LT1 I "hear" that EM makes a nice set coated and with all the air hookups they can also set you up with some cats that will bolt right up. Now as for passing inspections, I have no idea, we don't have them here.
And as for the headers I only say EM because that's what I have been reading here. I also orderd some and will have them in as soon as they show up. Look up "profussion" I believe he lives in Cali and has the EM LT's with cats.

I know that the headers they have on the site for the LT1's is wrong. That's their old headers. But if you call them they are good people and seem to be easy to deal with. They had a group buy going here not long ago and I got into it. If you call them they "may" still have a spot for you.

If you look at all the race mods on the market the disclamer states no hot rod parts allowed in California.
Thanks to ronnie raygun.

Guess I'll have to double check. Had no problem smogging other vehicles that had smog rails unless the law has changed recently. Maybe it's time for me to open mouth and insert foot

They do have a provision that if all the equiptment is there, and it passes the sniffer you may take it to a referee station and you recieve a compliance sticker. Been there but that was a few years ago, Thanx
