Default Read Codes on 93 Lt1

Sorry in advance for this question, for i knnow it must have been asked before. I have searched for over 1 hour and did not find the information.

i have a 93 LT1 A4 coupe, and I need to get the codes to diagnose a rough idle, after car is warmed up. I am fairly confident it is the opti, but want to get the codes to be certian.

WHere is the ALDL connector on a 93 LT1?

What is the process of getting the codes?

Sorry for a repeat question.

There are actually two ways to get the codes out of your car.

The ALDL connector is located under the dash on the driver's side, near ths trans tunnel, you can't miss it.

Looking at it from the front it has the following pinout

F _ _ C B A
G H J K L M

Use a paper clip to jump pins A & B and then turn the ignition key on. The codes will flash in sequence on your service engine soon light, each code will be flashed three times, starting and ending with 12.

So it will be like FLASH short_pause FLASH FLASH long pause That signifies a 12.

Another way to get the codes is to take the same paper clip and instead jump terminals G and A. Turn the key on and the codes will be displayed very nicely on your speedometer. Once it cycles through all codes it will reset back to manual mode, for which the instructions are a little more complicated.
