Default Project Beltless Boost Take 2

Well I decided to scrap the low mount turbo idea. I've got all the parts cheap if someone wants them, all you need is to figure out the oiling. But since I wanted a bigger turbo I needed to start over.

Here's what I've got so far with a couple of weekends of work.

Here's the turbo stand that I had to build to hold it up there in the right place, it's attached by a ubolt around the crossmember.

Here's the headers that I used. The driver side is the stock vette header and the pass is a stock roadmaster/impalla header.

In the last picture you can see how it loops around and turns from 2.5" to 3" before the strait shot into the turbo. Next is a picture of the y from under the car. I tried to give it some angle to keep up the velocity but I couldnt get much.

I've got the header pipes done, some still need to be tach welded but they are all there. The downpipe I've got until here, just out of the engine bay.

Here's the size of the 3.5" ubends that I'm using, these things are huge. I've gotta use these all the way back to the resonator and then I'll split it into the two 2.75" stock duals and send it back without the mufflers.

And of course some extra pictures of the random other parts.

Bruce, this last pic is for you, the last number in the checked box is the wastegate spring psi. I've got a 3psi, check your box.

Brian,
That is looking great man!!! so you are not having issues getting the 3.5" DP through there.. I have been wondering about it.. I don't have any 3.5 laying around.. where did ya get it? and how much? I was planning on simply running 3" for testing purposes knowing it would be a large restriction, but now that i see you with your big ole 3 and a half.. ya sold me..lol anyways man.. when is your completion date for this monster? keep us posted!

Chris, Don't even think about going under 3.5"! I could have fit 4" in there but the first 90* bend comming out of the turbo would have brought it way into the wheel well and I would have had to do some grinding on the header to get it through.

I picked up my 3.5" ubends for about $20 a piece. I dont' remember the company off the top of my head but I've got it written down somewhere.

Completion date depends on parts. I should be able to finish up the rest of the exhaust fairly easily in a weekend or so when I get a couple of more 3" ubends. The problem is I can't seem to get ahold of the guy at Griffin to get the intercooler. And I don't know what the timeframe is on getting one special ordered is. Hopefully by the end of Dec I'll have it. Then its off to rebuild the engine and dyno tune. It should be done by the time the snow clears
