I've resigned to the fact my 94's trans needs rebuilding. I don't know if I have enough room in my garage (and under the vette) to remove and do the rebuilt myself. Another option I have is buying another 4l60E and have a shop install it.
Can I use 4L60E's from 94-96 Vette? or even the C5's? What about trans from the F and B-body (say '96 SS)?
Need help to narrow down the pool to source my 4L60E...Thanks guys...
Take it to a trans shop have them install a trans go kit and a good tq converter.
I paid $2400.00 to have the shop rebuild mine with the trans go kit.
Corvette trans is set up diff then the f body don't be cheap about it or you will end up paying twice the price.
The trans shop needs to add one extra clutch for 4th gear to make it shift harder and it will last alot longer.
Thanks for the advise. It's not a matter of cheap, rather, it's a matter of stretching the dollar if it makes sense (cents??).
I really do not know if the internals are the same (or compatible) for Y/F/B-bodies 4L60E, and that's why I'm asking for help on this topic.
The corvette tranny is the top of the 4l60e food chain. Best bet is to take it to race shop and have them rebuild what you have, install
-race components (there are several high strength upgrades you can do http://www.transmissioncenter.net/)
-red clutch packs
-(if you really must a shift kit)
-a torque converter
-and they they should at least blow out your tranny cooling circuit or install a separate tranny fluid cooler
