Default censor in cylinderhead.

on the passenger side cylinderhead, on my 91 there is some kind of censor. What is that, and if you could give my the gm par nr for that would be great. During my rebuild I lost this censor :o

More than likely the coolant temp sensor.

I know on my 84 it is a temp sensor and I had to get a new connector for it from ecklers. this is the connector and in the realted parts it has a knock sensor for 90-91. this is the site

The sensor in the right-hand head provides input to the ECM and results in fan cycling and dash readouts.
I have found that for GM parts, The Last Detail (1-888-527-8338) near Atlanta GA. deals with GM and AC/Delco almost exclusively. Their part number (not GM's number) for this sensor is 677731 and their last listed price was $13.00.
Hope this helps.

The right hand sender is for your dash gage. ECM gets it's signal from the engine coolant temp sensor below the throttle body. You can get replacements at NAPA for either. Just be clear as to what you want. Gage is a single blade sender that decreases in resistance as it heats up. Most have a single green wire. Ground that wire against the block and the readout will be about 300 degrees. Coolant Temp Sensor is a 2 blade thermistor with a 5 volt reference signal from the ECM. It too decreases in resistance as it heats up simply meaning that the ECM sees a higher return voltage with higher coolant temps. It's leads are usually yellow (reference) and brown (return). If there's an open or short in this sensor, you'll get a trouble code.

In your '84, the right side head carries the fan switch. The left head has the dash gauge temp sensor. These two swapped sides several times in different years. After '84, the fan switch became the axillary fan switch. Unlike the '84, the main fan is ECM controlled in the L98's. All Gen I (L83 &L98) *I* am aware of, have the ECT (engine coolant temperature) sensor for the ECM, in the front of the intake manifold.

*IF* it's the same part on a 91 L98 as on an LT1 then the part number is 25037332, price = $22.20 list, $12.77 net at Superior Chevrolet. I just replaced one on my engine.
