My 1990 original cluster had a few segments go out so I got a replacement from a forum member (great transaction with hz900), replaced the LCD panel and everything is peachy with the gauges.
Unfortunately now the car is throwing a code 16 (LF sensor). I don't see anything disconnected where I was working. What else could I have messed up under the dash? The manual mentions probing the connector for the sensor for resistance but where is the connector?
Could I have just made it mad and need to clear the code? I just need to make sure I don't set off the airbag - that would be teh suck.
You shouldn't set off the airbag if you do a reset of the error code. The sensor itself is under the battery mounted to the frame. If the ground is bad or corroded it could trip the code 16. I removed mine, cleaned it up and reset it with die electric grease under it , reset the code and the code went away. maybe if you trace the sensor back you will find the connection it wasn't obvious when I was working on it. Reason: additional information
As far as the sensor being corroded, I cleaned the LF one a few years ago when I bought the car - I doubt it has gone south so soon.
I think my messing around made something mad. I only found one connector with the yellow wires and it seemed ok. This connector was right by the hood release handle. There is another connector under there with nothing plugged into it but it has always been empty (I think).
I think I will try doing a reset to see if the code returns. My CCM was chucking codes until I disconnected the battery, too. Maybe I'll get lucky. I won't be able to get to it until tonight or tomorrow tho. I'll check back in when I'm done.
