Default 92 Automatic stock chip

I'm having some problems with my cooling fans. Primary was bad, secondary would kick in. I replaced the primary fan, now the only way I can get the secondary to turn on is to jump the the terminals on the test port. It wont turn on with the air on, and wont turn on when the temp is reached, but will turn on when the pins are jumped. A few people have told me it's probably the chip.

Does anyone out there have an extra chip from a 92 auto that I could use to see if that's the problem? Or else one that they could sell cheap enough so that if it's not the problem, I don't waste much money?

Thanks1

I have no idea if it is the chip or not, but I can tell you that factory chips are pretty cheap to buy. There are different ones and you will need the 4 digit code off of the chip. They vary depending on auto or manual and other things, gear ratios I believe.

I am by no means a chip expert but I would do a complete diagnostic on the fan system before I did anything with a chip. If it is the chip, ragtop is correct, gotta have the alpha code from your chip.
