Default Suggestions for mounting the MSD6 Box

Where did you mount the MSD6 box in your C4? I have been racking my brain trying to find a suitable location for the box that will offer it protection from the elements.

Suggestions? Pics? Throw it away?

If you have a manual pass seat you can mount it under the seat. Cushion pops out easy for quick chip changes and no drilling nescessary. Velcro holds it tight to rug. My unit has been here for 12 years w/no issues.

You could perhaps mount it in the left head light well. I have seen a couple mounted there. My car is a 95 and my box is mounted where my air filter was but I have a totally different setup than most people. The only problem having it in the head light well is sometimes you can get some water splashed up into there. And the MSD6AL is not waterproof. A better system would be either their Digital 6 product or Cranes Hi-6 ignition box, I know the Crane box is potted and its weather proof. I am not positive about the MSD but I think it too is potted. If you have room you maybe able to mount next to the air filter housing as well.

My Accel box mounted behind the left fender. Basically in front of the battery & to the inside of the car. Just barely fit but I think the MSD box is shorter in height but longer in length. I took the rear inner fender out after making where I wanted it. Drilled holes & mounted the box before re-installing the fender.

That's where mine was mounted in my last Vette... One of these days I'll remount it in the new Vette in the same place... One advantage to the headlight pocket is that it stays cool, possibly one reason that I've never had trouble with it in the 6 years I've owned the unit...

I mounted mine above the battery but I had to remove the cruise control. MSD suggest that you don't mount it inside of the car because the box can get hot and needs air flow. Under the headlight, above the battery, or in front of the battery are the usual places, or you can relocate the battery to the trunk area and put the MSD box where the battery goes.
