Default Is this Cheap horsepower

I have a 1990 vette stock.... Well I have the stainless steel exhaust... If I install a Throttle body, KN air filter, and a stage 2 chip with a 160 degree thermostat will I get very much horsepower? If so how much can I inspect to get in reality? And is there any other cheap horsepower tricks?
Thanks for any help.
Ben

K&N=good
TB, if you mean air foil=not, if you mean coolant by-pass=good
Hypertech, some call hypercrap=not
160 thermostat????

Cut the air cleaner lid to expose the full filter area.

Underdrive pulleys will free up some HP.

Guess 10-15 HP from this, step up to headers and get ~10-15 more.

Real gains from heads, cam, intake, chip to match.

As regards to the thermistat I've seen that a 170 degree is better to make sure it gets to closed Loop in the computer and you will have to buy a fan switch such as JET to turn the fans on faster to make a real benifit at all times. And I also agree w/ the hypercrap these can acually lose power on the dyno!!!! Custom chip is the way to go....

Yep, I went with a 180 and have my fan set to come on at 200, off at 190. At speed my temps run 180, 185 in summer heat. My Aux. fan has yet to come on now, even sitting in traffic with A/C on the main fan is able to hold temps in 190's in summer heat.

Your temps are much lower than stock, but there is still a little more power and reliabilty (power depends on a chip burn, but w/ a stock setup there is both to be gained) and the motor likes lower temps esp. w/ alum. heads.....for the long haul P.S. My fans come on when I turn on the A/C???

Well, yea, there's a little more in my tune than just turning the fans on earlier.

So how do I get a program to burn a chip? And where can I get a chip burned?

See stickies at top and at thirdgen.org. A chip is really needed after you make modifications like heads/cam/intake.
