Wastegate Boost refrence from intake manifold
What do you guys think about just running the boost refrence from the intake manifold. This would keep the boost reference after the possible pressure drops of the TB and the intercooler and piping which is a good thing. But when I slam the throttle closed after WOT the wastegate would slam shut as well.
I don't think that this will be a problem since the air going through the engine is now dramatically decreased. And since I'll have a BOV even if I had the boost reference before the TB if the TB slams shut the boost should spike then drop to under boosted levels, where the wastegate would be shut anyways.
Does this make sense or am I off on a blackhole tangent built on lies and deceit?
I think if you do that.. the wastegate is gonna shut and force air through the turbo very rapidly while the air flow path is shut going into the engine... unless you have a HUGE BOV... you will probably get some surging at the turbo.. how detrimental that will be i don't know.. and i imagine it will cause a few other small tuning issues that would be more of an annoyance then anything else.. like coming off boost stalling maybe some other small issues.. just a guess at what might happen. also putting the reference so far from the turbo is going to give you a delay in controlling the boost setting i think..by the time the reference is sent to the gate.. all the way from the TB where the boost is.. it will likely spike above the set pressure your looking for. there is a delay there.. in maximum boost it tells the up and down sides to where you place the reference.. but it ultimately expresses that closer to the compressor outlet is more desireable. again.. it is all kinda trial and error on these projects.. so if it doesn't work.. cap it and get it from somewhere else..
