I have not heard much about pirellis. I saw a pair selling on ebay so I looked into them at a few on line tire websites like the tire rack. They were in the lower end of the pack as far as performance and feedback.
Depends on the model, are the pirellis the only tire your friend is offering?

The P Zero Nero is one of the preferred tires by some of the local clubs in the St. Louis area. I have not had any experience with them. My preference is Michelin... but for the money BFG is what I always get.

i have pirelli p zero rossos on my 93. 255/35/19 front and 305/30/19 rear. first choice wouldnt have been pirellu but this tire was the only one that offered these sizes for my wheels with the same O.D.

The MOST IMPORTANT thing to understand is every tire is a compromise. some are slightly grippier, but will wear faster, some noiser and stiffer but give so much better feedback on the road.. Its is also important to know that the top performance tires for each company can NOT be compred to the most other tires. In my opinion you pay for what u get.

My pirellis Rossos are awesome. they are smooth, not very loud and grippy enough for me to run 128.4 mph with my stroker motor. they do take a bit to warm up.. but after that they are incredible.

Heres a few tires ive had before and what i thought..

BFG G-Force 275/40/17s - awesome awesome grippy tires.
Pilot sports -275/35/18 - good but designed for rain... which i dont even need. not sticky even when hot
Bridgestone S02 285/30/18 - oldschool tire back in the day comparable to the old michelin mxx3. these tires were like glue but were noisy and wore down WAY too fast.
Bridgestone s02 pole position 275/35/18- like the pilot sports. softer feel.. very smooth and quiet

S03 pole positions.. 285/30/19 245/35/19 tore on the machines trying to put them on mywheels

Pirelli PZERO Rossos... so Smooth at 190 mph. my favourite

I have the Pirelli P6000 255/40 ZR17's that the previous owner installed and was told by my tire store guy that they listed for $280 each. I have done a bunch of burnouts and 1/4 miles with them along with some high speed driving up in the 140's and they seem great and still look and feel pretty new. I think the Germans know what they're doing with high speed tires (autobahn). I still want some drag radials for the rear for the track but for all around driving they seem great.

Thanks for all the input guys, I need to find out what other brands he has but sounds like the Perelli's wouldn't be to bad to have for being almost free

I've been running Pirelli's for 2 years now. I've got 315's on the back and 275's on the front - I don't put a lot of miles on my car, but I have NO complaints about them.

I just bought a brand new set of tires/rims and the NEW tires happened to be Pirelli's, too - I didn't plan it that way!! The wet traction isn't the greatest, but dry traction and wear have been great.
